Malaysia’s robust economic fundamentals are clearly reflected in the RM92.8 billion of approved investments secured in the first quarter of 2026. Driven heavily by a massive wave of digital transformation and AI infrastructure demand, the information and communications subsector contributed RM38.9 billion, further solidifying Selangor, Johor, and Kuala Lumpur as key regional data center hubs. Notably, Japan led foreign investment inflows with a substantial RM21.5 billion, while domestic investments showed a resilient 13% year-on-year growth to reach RM36.6 billion. Creating over 50,000 new jobs, this strong performance positions Malaysia as a high-value strategic hub capable of successfully insulating itself from wider global economic headwinds.
